This easy-going bone broth will make nourishing your family a breeze, while giving your soups a deep flavor that can't be beat.

Ingredients

Instructions

  1. Place all chicken bones into the slow cooker, then place all remaining ingredients around chickens.
  2. Pour water into cooker until all ingredients are covered.
  3. Simmer on low for 24-48 hours, or until water is reduced just above the chicken bones.
  4. Turn off and remove lid, let cool for 30 minutes.
  5. Using a ladle, you can pour the broth through a sieve, and the into mason jars.
  6. The jars can be stored in the fridge for 5-7 days. If you plan to freeze your broth, make sure the liquid does not come up to the shoulder or they may burst.

Notes

You can scale this recipe up or down depending on how many chicken bones you have.

You can also use whole raw chickens. Just 8-10 hours in, remove the chickens, pull the meat for dinner, and toss the bones back in to simmer for 14-20 more hours.

I did not add nutritional facts here because it would not be accurate. The calculator doesn't account for the ingredients being tossed after boiling down the broth.
